El Alacran (The Scorpion) is painted in the style of a yarn painting, to honor the amazing work of the Huichol people of Mexico.  The Huichol create amazing yarn paintings, to tell their stories to others as well as preserve the past. The Scorpion ("El Alacran") is one of their most important deities. They believe the scorpion is a noble and fearless being, a messenger of the gods, and the sting of the scorpion is taken as a sign that changes need to be made.
